John D. Wayand D.M.D.

Dr. John Wayand (or Dr. John, as he encourages patients to call him), enjoyed growing up in Cary, North Carolina, as the eldest of seven siblings. He graduated from North Carolina State University, and went on to garner his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta. After spending time in private practice in the cities of Philadelphia and Richmond, he made the decision to return home to the Triangle area to be closer to his family. His practice philosophy is quite simple; the patient comes first. He hopes to carry this principle of high quality comprehensive dental care and let it flourish within the community he knows and loves so dearly.

With a background of caring for patients for over ten years, Dr. John is happy to share his knowledge with patients as they move along the path to creating their best smile. With interests ranging from esthetics to infection control, he is someone who considers the comprehensive goals of a patient. Dr. Wayand holds accreditations in changing patient’s oral health via moving teeth to healthier positions with clear aligners, utilizing The Invisalign system. Equally, in terms of saving patients from infection, Dr. John is skilled in the areas of root canal therapy. Dr. John enjoys the hands-on interaction that Dentistry brings, and is happiest when engaging in treatment that will provide the best oral health for his patients.

When not in the office, Dr. John enjoys spending time with his spouse, and their two dogs, a pug, Olivia, and a black lab, Murph. He is an avid cook, constantly trying to challenge himself with new recipes from his favorite tastes of Thai, Indian and Italian cuisine. Prior to becoming a dentist, Dr. John was a swim coach in the area for over ten years, and still hits the pool regularly to enjoy a good workout.

Dr. John cherishes relationships, and has worked hard to create a practice culture that values the experience of each of his patients. Dr. John and his valued staff are committed to ensuring each patient feels understood, heard and supported.
